چکیده

Cancer vaccines targeting non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have been studied for decades: clinical trials, for the most part, have focused on the use of autologous and allogeneic whole-tumor cell vaccines. Recent advances in molecular biology and immunology, however, have allowed the identification of many tumor antigens involved in the generation of immunity to NSClC. Although small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is commonly thought of as an immunogenic tumor, it is now clear that NSCLC is also capable of eliciting an endogenous immune response in patients with the disease and, in fact. has a natural history that may make NSCLC more amenable to vaccine therapy as an adjuvant treatment strategy. This review will high light the major components of the immune system that may potentially interact with tumor-associated proteins as weil as outline the Immunologic similarities and differences between SCLC and NSCLC. Tumor antigens that elicit immune responses in patients with NSCLC will be discussed. Finally, clinical trials of whole-tumor cell vaccines, both autologous and allogeneic, and tumor antIgen-specific vaccines will also be discussed. Clinical Lung Cancer. Vol. 1, No.4, 294-301. 2000

Whole Tumor Cell Vaccine Adjuvants: Comparing IL-12 to IL-2 and IL-15

Cancer immunotherapy (passive or active) involves treatments which promote the ability of the immune system to fight tumor cells. Several types of immunotherapeutic agents, such as monoclonal antibodies, immune checkpoint inhibitors, non-specific immunomodulatory agents, and cancer vaccines are currently under intensive investigation in preclinical and clinical trials. Cancer vaccines induce pe...

Preventive and Therapeutic Vaccines against Human Papillomaviruses Associated Cervical Cancers

Cervical cancer is, globally known to be, one of the most common cancers among women especially indeveloping countries. More than 90% of cervical cancers are associated with high-risk humanpapillomaviruses (HPVs) particularly HPV types 16 and 18. Two major strategies have been developed forprevention and treatment of cervical cancer and other HPV-associated malignancies; the first one is based ...

DNA-Based Vaccine Is More Efficient than Non-Pathogenic Live Vaccine for the Prevention of HPV16 E7-Overexpressing Cancers

Introduction: Vaccinology provides promising approaches for the control of various infectious diseases. Among different strategies, DNA vaccines offer attractive research opportunities for development of vaccines for induction of antigen-specific immunity owing to their stability, simplicity of delivery, safety and cost effectiveness. However, there is a need to increase their potency by the ...

Serum mannan-binding lectin in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis: Its lack of a relationship to the disease and response to treatment

Background: Lectin pathway mediates complement activation, which is activated by many microorganisms. This study aimed at determining the serum levels of mannose-binding lectin (MBL) in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, assessing its relationship to antiuberculosis treatment response, and comparing them with a control group.    Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on...
